NEW THEME FOR THIS BLOG

Yes! after a long time of being apprehensive about learning Worpress, I was finally able to get the hang of it, learning and enjoying each time I learn something new, sharing to friends what I have learned, and thankful for those people who unselfishly sharing what they have learned so others may know. A friend of mine suggested a site that has free wordpress themes and I found this one which gives justice to this blog and just fit to its title.

I got plenty of appreciation for choosing the theme for this blog and I think I am gonna stick to this as it gives it a vibrant look. Living in the middle of nowhere doesn’t mean to be a boring kind of life. I do love my country living. The simplicity without compromising the being idle to what’s going on around the world because we have internet connection is what makes me delighted plus the love you get from the family and friends around. The peace and quite it offers with the feel of nature around is something I wouldn’t trade over the hassle and bustle of a city life I am used to. I sure miss my hometown, but living this life out of nowhere gives me the feeling of just being home.

GETTING THIS BLOG MIGRATED

I have been neglecting this blog and its time for an update. I have been thinking about moving this blog to a WP format but still making things right for this blog. For a blogger like me who knows a little about blog tweaking, importing this blog or migrating it to a WP format is a challenge.
I hope I can find somebody to help me out. I am thinking about buying a webhosting so I can have this blog and the food and travel blog I have just started will be under the same web hosting. With the current trend and the chaos going on with blog earning, I am in between taking it easy or going along with the trend. It might cost a little bit more getting all my blogs a webhosting and dedicated IP, I think it will be a good investment for my blogs. I don’t know much about web hosting or cpanel until it made some noise around bloggers. So now, I am looking for a cheap webhosting company for all my blogs. I hope I can find me one that I am comfortable putting all this blog to a reliable webhosting company

HAPPY NEW YEAR, HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY

Yes, New Year has been an an exciting event in my life since I gave birth to a healthy, sweet and loving little fella. Since then, New Year’s day is something that I would always looking forward to celebrating as it means celebrating the birth of our beloved son.

His 2nd birthday was as simple and yet full of fun with wonderful friends and family who truly loves this little man. Since he was born in the Philippines, it got to where we celebrate 2 birthdays for him. One on the 31st of December, which is the day January 1st in the Philippines and then  we celebrate on New Years day here in the US. We do believe that he is indeed a special , not just to us his parents, but to those whom he touches lives. This little boy just have a charisma and oh so friendly that you would say he never met a stranger.

We as parents, are very proud of him! I hope God will keep him safe, healthy and sound. We want this little young fella to grow respectful to God and to others. God has given us a gift that I could never ask for more. Family and friend’s would always say” What where we doing before he was here? We love you so much KD!

BLOGGER’S BLANKET

This is a repost  for the purpose of seeking more help for CDO FLOOD VICTIMS: by Rovelyn
Cagayan de Oro is like a home to me. I was actually there a few weeks ago appreciating the beauty of the  city, enjoying the festivities of my Alma Mater and loving  the warm welcome of my  family and friends. But now, Sendong’s wrath changed everything. The devastation brought about by Typhoon Sendong have left thousands of families mourning and displaced. As of this time, death toll has already reached more than a thousand and still increasing and more than 276,000 people remain homeless and sheltered by evacuation centers.
As a Kagay-anon, it breaks my heart to see my countrymen in such a helpless state. I know that in my own little way, I need to do something to help. The first thing I did was re post in my other blog the call to HELP CAGAYAN DE ORO and I am so happy upon knowing that many of my friends responded. Others called me and confirmed their willingness to donate. During that time I recommended that donations be given to the foundations and groups stated in my blog. Donations in any form  will be given to all the victims anyway.
Until, this particular blogger friend from the US who wishes not to be named,  reached out and send monetary help to my sister in Cagayan de Oro and even encouraged some of her blogpals to donate and help in the cause of  providing mats and blankets to 240 families staying at Xavier Heights Gym in Balulang thus “Bloggers Blanket” was given birth.  The victims are somehow surviving day by day with the food  and clothes from other  donors and also from the barangay. What they are asking right now are mats and blankets for them to at least combat the cold weather and the coldness of the cemented flooring inside the gym.

As of the moment, the funds gathered by  Bloggers Blanket are not yet enough to give a pair of mat and blanket to all the families in the community. You might wonder, what’s the difference between donating to a big agency or to an organized group compared to Bloggers Blanket, I can say that there’s a lot. First, you can be very sure that your donations will go directly to the recipients. Second, the only interest and objective of the group is to help the victims directly which means that corruption has no place in the group. Photos and documentation of the activities will be visible through the blog posts of this blog and the blogs of some supporters and finally someone from the group is tasked to account everything and will make sure that every penny goes to the recipients. When you donate,  you can help these people rebuild their lives…

These kids are waiting for your support. Please make their lives a little better
Victims of Sendong housed at Xavier Heights Gym in Balulang.
Bloggers Blanket aims to provide mats, blankets  and a little financial support to these families for them to start anew. Distribution of relief goods are facilitated by my sister Allyn, her husband Cy and her SIL Cindy. If you want to be a part of this cause, please send your donations via Paypal to:
 marquee_29@yahoo.com
Your support will really make a big  difference in the lives of this people. May the Lord  give you back all the blessings you share  more than a hundred times. Please be a  part  of this cause. Share your blessings and spread love and joy this Christmas.

LESSON WELL-LEARNED

I truly agree to the saying that real friends are those that are still there in times of misfortunes. Or rather I would say, those that stick around through testing times. Hubby always teased me about having so many friends that he can never keep up with their names. And the trying times I have been through all my life have taught me to classify my friends. And its funny how the seemingly long list of friends you got in mind can be shortened down to only a few that I can just even count them out with my 10 fingers- or even less.
With the recent challenge in my life being away with my family for a whole lonesome and emotionally-wrecking week, I am just amazed at how  these few people would braved a cold weather just to put food at our doorstep, checking on me as much as they could even they themselves are not feeling better. I even ask myself If I have been this kind of person at some point in my life to sacrifice one’s self for someone else’s welfare. The only reason I can point out at this point is that GOD sent this people as an instrument of his love for me.
I came to a realization that all this time I have been trying to seek attention from friends, reaching out to them  to keep the friendship going. Then I realized it’s just a one-way street. This recent experience I have, taught me that my family and only few, out of the dozens of friends I have were the ones that was there! I didn’t even have to call them-THEY are the ones that put forth the effort to call. GOD has a strangest way of teaching us lessons in life. I can never forget and will always cherished these few people whom I call REAL FRIENDS.

SNOW

As of this writing, I am tapping my laptop with a cold feet even I am  already wrapped up. It’s snowed 3-4 inches! I immediately checked the weather forecast and it says the high today’s gonna be 37F and only 24F and that is 8F below freezing point. I am planning to let the little one play when daylight breaks and get his picture made playing in the snow. I went outside and its thick enough for us to enjoy it.
People back home would envy me because I get to experience snow. What they don’t realize is that it gets depressing after a while when you are just stuck at home. People gets worried driving in snow as it poses danger  . I must say we are still lucky we don’t get 10 feet of snow or even higher because it’s just not going to be fun at all. Just like those up in the North, you have to shovel your driveway or else, you are so stuck! I’m thinking about my friend in New Hampshire right now and recalled that her car just quit working in the middle of the snowy night. She had to shovel the snow and to her frustration, she just went inside her car and cried for help.
Right now, I am thinking about a sleeveless/ shorts kind of weather in the Philippines. I am not gonna like this winter and snow if it will last for long. Gosh, I just can’t contain my excitement to be in the Philippines and just enjoy our vacation!

CANDIES VS BOUNCY HOUSE

This would be the second time my son had a blast on  a trick or treat. Last year, we went to the local library and even though he was only less then a year, he was having fun playing with kids his size. This Halloween, he kind of getting the idea that trick of treat means Candy and chocolates! We went to this church and there were dozens of kids in full costume and oh gosh, I just love watching those babies and kids fully made up for the occasion. Our son was the little Dragon. Cars and trucks were lined up on the side of the road and had their trunk decorated for the Halloween and of course, They’ve got their pumpkin basket full of candies and chocolate for the trick or treaters. As soon as our son saw those pumpkin bucket full of goodies, he immediately went to the ladies and uttered  ”eyndi!” ( candy) instead of the standard tagline” trick or treat” . The church put up bouncy house for the kids to enjoy and they have free popcorns and hotdogs too.
We went to another church which our neighbor go to and as soon as he saw all the motorcycle on the parking lot, he was running and was screaming ” a-u”. I don’t know how he’d come up with that term for motorcycle but yes, that’s what he always say whenever he saw motorcycle. They also have two bouncy house set up. One for kids and another one for toddlers. Our son was much more drawn to the motorcycle and the bouncy house and that really made his day.
He was so wound up and tired that as soon as we buckled him up, he dozed off to sleep. Indeed, our Halloween was well-celebrated. As long as we see our son so happy, that sure makes it a great day.

CARVING PUMPKINS

We bought pumpkins from the pumpkins patch that my family went to yesterday. We really planned to do pumpkin carving today with my stepson as he wanted to do it with his little brother. I thought carving pumpkin is hard and how intricate it can be by just looking at the pictures. Hubby went ahead and bought as some carving tools and little did I know there is actually a pattern that you can choose for carving. I have never in life, experience carving pumpkins before as we don’t or let me say, it doesn’t grow in the Philippines. Halloween back home is a time to visit loved ones who passed away and carving pumpkins is not just the trend.
So I gave it a try and I found myself enjoying every minute of it! My husband did the tradition Jack ‘O Lantern pattern and my stepson and I did the Kitty and a spooky face respectively. Now the carved pumpkins are sitting in the living room by the fireplace and I tell you, you can really appreciate this stuff when they have a candle lit on inside. We still have two pumpkins left but will try to make pumpkin pie with them. Happy Halloween everyone:)
This is my carved pumpkin with a lighted candle inside:)

GOT THE BUG FOR BASEBALL

My love for baseball started when I was in high school playing the women’s counterpart sport for baseball which is softball. I played the entire high school years and made it through my junior year in college.
It was not until we had the party here at our house and some of the guys wanted to turn on the TV for the Baseball World Series. Texas Rangers are in for it and should they win, it will be their first time EVER to win. The rangers did a great job winning 2 out of 3 home games. Oh, boy! I just couldn’t help but scream on top of my lungs and that’s how I am when I get the bug for sports:) I got my son to say Go Go and Yes! as he would he me say ‘em. It’s gonna be Game 6 on St Luis backyard so it’s gonna be a a challenge for the Rangers. Wohoo! I hope its gonna be IT for the rangers to make it to  World Series baseball winning history.

GO FOR THE WIN

Tonight is gonna be the highlight for the Miss Universe 2011 pageant. Miss Philippines, Chamsey Supsup, has a great chance of winning the crown as I have never seen in the past few years in a candidate,  that is so radiant and has so much support from the Filipinos around the world and I haev never seen Filipinos so overwhelmingly supporting this young lad from General Santos City for her quest to be crowned Miss Universe 2011.

She earned her degree with flying colors, proved her worth by topping the board exam for Architecture, Chamsey exudes the grace, beauty, and wit that I believe what it takes to be crowned Miss Universe  this year. I have shared my support for this young lady as I have never supported any candidate ever before by voting like crazy online!
For Filipinos around the world, let’s say our prayer and hope God will bless this young lady as she proves herself worthy for the crown tonight in Sao Paulo , Brazil. God Bless you Chamsey Supsup!
